  5. The 4th of May is Memorial Day in The Netherlands.

The National Dachau monument is a memorial to the Dutch victims of the Dachau concentration camp. It is located in the Amsterdam Forest. The monument was designed by artist Niek Kemps. The road is uneven, which symbolizes that the prisoners had to walk on uneven footwear. In the blue stone are the names of 500 concentration camps and outside camps chiseled.

A few years ago when we were introduced to each other there was a click right away.
She; the indestructible resistance fighter, and I half as old, the optimistic jew.
Both obstinate.
There arose a photo project: “Across through the Half”
Meanwhile there has been developed a very dear friendship between us.
Love; MIK 99

  10. KORTE KORSJESPOORT STEEG © NOK&T/ART 2012 anonymous chosen for “LOVE” online gallery @ZomerExpo @Gemeentemuseum Den Haag June 01 - August 19 2012
Print on bubond/alu frame 100x135cm (AMSTERDAM SERIES #streetart)
WINTER 1963
Her primary focus is on. I can smell it. On a Tuesday afternoon, after the dentist, Sjaantje drags me to her big Sister in her lucky box on the Korte Korsjespoort Steeg.
“You can learn a lot. She’s a professional … “
Along the way, I demand an explanation. Sjaantje chatters away about the Chinese Annies, skinny Josjes, lame Miepen and black Jeannes. We stop before a brilliant red, illuminated shop window. Slightly raised on a dais is the Sister of Sjaantje, who is sitting in a comfortable broad armchair. She wears one of her lace bra’s. I recognize it right away from the clothesline, but the bra is now more than filled. A deep décolletage attracts the attention. Dressed in a red haze her huge breasts almost burst out. She smiles at us behind the window. She paints her lips a dazzling, vivid red. With lashes like fans, deep black and outlined, she gives me big wink. I am immediately sold!
Moments later we have a cup of tea in the same red-lit shop window next to the throne of the Sister of Sjaantje. I enjoy looking at so many woman so close up. We chat animatedly. The window steams up. Men walk over and linger, standing, peering in furtively …
